How I got into insulation work
Before this business, I ran a small property upkeep company for rental owners. The calls I couldn't really fix were the drafty rooms, the high power bills and the damp crawl spaces. So I learned how to close up the gaps in a house, which we call air sealing, and how to insulate it properly, working beside an experienced installer. In 2020 I started Caliber Newport News Insulation Services right here in Newport News.
Most of our calls still come from owners of older homes, landlords and a few property managers. Usually it's a hot upstairs, cold floors or the room over the garage that nobody wants to sit in. I find out what's actually wrong before I sell anything, because new insulation laid over a leak or an open gap just hides the problem. I see it before I price it
I come out and look at every job myself before we quote, so the estimate covers what's really in your attic or crawl space and what has to happen first. You deal with me from the first call, and we reply within one business day by phone or email, whichever way you reached us.
Straight talk about what isn't ours
If I find old wiring, a roof leak or insulation that needs a different kind of firm, I tell you plainly and we plan around it. Fresh insulation laid over a problem like that only buries it until it shows up again.
A written plan, your part included
You get what I found, what needs to happen first and what I'd recommend, in plain words, and we work in that order so the gaps get sealed before new insulation goes over them. The plan also covers your side, like clearing out storage or planning time away from the house.

We're licensed and fully insured, and our own crew does the work in your attic, walls or crawl space. When the job's done, I go over it with you myself, and our work is backed by our satisfaction guarantee.
Permits pulled by us
In Newport News, the city's Codes Compliance office issues building permits for repairs and for work that adds framing or opens up the framing that's there, like pulling off drywall. When a job needs a permit, we apply for it as the licensed contractor and set up the inspections, and because rules differ between Newport News and the cities and counties around it, I check with the local office on each job.
